Basic Life Support (BLS)
Basic Life Support covers all aspects of CPR including rescue breathing and the use of AEDs and BVMs. This Health Care Provider level is designed specifically for those who as part of the job description as Health Care Providers have a duty to respond to medical emergencies (e.g., doctors, nurses, paramedics, dentists, chiropractors, occupational therapists and allied health care professionals). It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility training
Content includes:
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
Chain of Survival
Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Ventilations using a barrier device and bag-valve-mask
Multi-rescuer resuscitation
Team Dynamics
Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children, and infants
CME/CPD Credits & Affiliation, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Heart & Stroke BLS Provider & BLS Provider Renewal Course eligible for two (2) credits per hour under Section 2 of the MOC Program as “Traineeships
